We believe space analysis is fundamental to shaping the interior design industry. Today, interior design is no longer just about aesthetics, but about understanding and optimising space.
OFFICE INTERIOR DESIGN FOR SSDU SELANGOR WITH ERGONOMICS CONCEPT
SSDU Innovations Sdn Bhd, also known as Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) established in May 2016 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor). With the vision of advancing Selangor to become a liveable Smart State in ASEAN by 2025, SSDU is set to deliver its mandate by providing sustainable solutions through technological optimisation and creating smart state applications.
BRIEF OF OFFICE INTERIOR DESIGN FROM SMART SELANGOR DELIVERY UNIT
The brief for S.U.A was to design their new office based on the collaboration concept of Google and Apple. Envisioning a human centric workspace that inspires collaboration and facilitates meaningful connections, S.U.A aimed to bring more energy and mobility into the workplace while promoting the well-being of staff and guests.
In pursuit of its mission to enhance creativity and collaboration among staff, we have applied the “Wacky Office” theme into Smart Selangor’s latest office design aim to spearhead SSDU to corporate professionalism with a future-forward attitude that embraces change. This workspace concept breaks free of traditionally fixed desks and encourages free-flowing movement by introducing all access workspace in a variety of work settings.
To maximise its efficiency, the office has been designed to ensure various needs and personalities of its staff would be addressed. In addition to community-centric spaces, private and quieter areas enable people to retreat and work on projects uninterrupted, offering more versatility and freedom as to where and how they work.
There are two main zones - the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit and Centre of Excellence, which comprises a host of collective meeting zones, and an open space theatre alike.

OFFICE DESIGN FOR LEVEL 15
Sitting on level 15 is the Centre of Excellence. It is a space designed to nurture the growth of new tech startups in Selangor. You can find multiple open and closed meeting spaces scattered around the entire level to suit different working styles, from small to large gatherings, to private and communal meets. These corners range from casual communal spaces, open discussion areas, hot-desking zones and semi-enclosed meeting rooms. Our intent in carving specialised corners are to support flexibility and promote collaboration.
As you move past the entryway, you will find an open theatre spanning 761 sq ft that can host up to 35 guests. You will immediately be greeted by a huge 12-panel LCD screen that is mounted on the front wall with cubic stools scattered around to create a unique theatre setting. In the startup world, all presentations and pitches are an opportunity that could open new doors for the presenters and we wanted to capture that message visually in the interior.
With this, we purposefully designed the platform to encapsulate a cinematic experience for every single presentation and pitch. An add-on feature of this theatre is also the natural sunlight we could get from the floor-to-ceiling glass panels from every corner.
OFFICE DESIGN FOR LEVEL 16
At level 16, the design concept is based on a modern office with a combination of ergonomics and collaborative environment. A series of adjustable workstations provide SSDU employees a comfortable place to work, ranging from the analyst team situated closest to the entry, a secure area for the business development and communications team and the legal/finance team found in the furthest reaches of the office for privacy. Each placement is planned carefully to encourage “casual collision” between employees. The idea of this concept is to demonstrate how collaboration promotes creativity and drives production.
